Minimal Make Up ♡

Hello everyone!

As I am sure a lot of you will be aware, my posts on this blog have been few and far between as of late. It feels like life (college) just seems to get in the way all the time, and when I'm not stressing about the prospect of failing my A Levels and ruining my whole future I'm madly revising in the hope that some of it sinks in. Although writing this blog is one of my favourite things to do, at the moment it is purely just a hobby, something I do for fun, therefore meaning it has had to take a backseat in my priorities recently. However, I have been thinking of some ideas for some posts that I'm so excited about, I'll be getting started with those as soon as my exams are done and dusted.

In relation to my exam stress, I have also adopted a much more minimal make up look for College, so I thought that it would be nice to share it with you!

The Look

(no editing, no filter, no anything)

1. First, I moisturised my face with my Simple moisturiser. Then, I used my No7 'Dry Skin Rescue' cream on any areas of my face that are prone to being extra dry, such as my chin and the sides of my nose. After this, I primed my face using my Nivea primer.

2. When my primer had worked its magic I moved on to foundation. I applied Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Foundation (in BR 10) using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, while also blending using my Real Techniques buffing brush. A fantastic cheaper alternative to this foundation is the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation in Light Beige.

3. After ensuring that my foundation was fully blended and set using my RT Buffing Brush, I proceeded to fill in my eyebrows using my HD Brows palette in 'Foxy' and using a clear brow gel to set them.

4. I then used 17 Phwoarr Paint Concealer on any blemishes, underneath my eyes and any areas of particular redness.

5. On my eyes, I just applied Sin by Urban Decay on my lid. I then did a simple liquid liner flick using Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Liner.

6. Next, I curled my eyelashes and applied a coating of Soap and Glory's Thick And Fast Mascara.

7. Using a small powder brush, I then swept a tiny bit of powder just over any areas that get particularly oily, such as my T-zone and my chin.

8. To finish off the look, I simply patted some Vaseline on my lips and I was good to go!

OOTD - No Longer A Mini Skirt Virgin ♡

Hello everyone!

Today I bring you my first ever proper outfit post! I temporarily hired my friend Lucy to take a few quick pictures of my outfit while we were out today. I'm really excited about this outfit, mainly because i'm wearing a skirt (!!!). I'm never ever normally a skirt person as I am quite tall so I tend to just stick to jeans, however when I saw this skirt on the Urban Outfitters website the other day I decided to give it a try - and I love it! I've actually since bought another skirt too and I can see it becoming a little bit of an obsession. They're really versatile as they can be dressed up or down, which I love!

Leather jacket - Topshop, Bag - H&M

Boots - New Look, Necklace - Miss Selfridge

Black Cropped Tee - Primark, Skirt - Urban Outfitters, Tights- Primark.

So that's my first ever proper OOTD! I really enjoyed doing it and I hope to do loads more in the future, especially as the weather gets warmer. I'd love to know what you thought, so please comment or tweet me!

'Casual Yet Dressy' Make Up Look - Party, Date etc ♡

Long time no see!

This week I went out for a lovely meal with my friends to celebrate my friend Sharna's birthday, and I thought it'd be nice to share the make up look that I chose for that night on here. This look would be perfect for a casual yet dressed up dinner date!

The Look

Prepping, Foundation & Concealer -  I prepped my skin using the Good Things Miracle Mattifier, followed by the Nivea Primer. I then applied Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in Light Porcelain and applied that using a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, and ensuring that it was fully blended with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I also used the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer to any areas of redness, my dark under eye circles, and on any blemishes.

Eyebrows -  I filled in any sparse areas of my eyebrows using my HD Brows Palette in Foxy. I then just lightly ran over them with a clear mascara from The Body Shop in order to keep them in shape.

Powder & More Concealer -  Next, I used my all time favourite powder, Rimmel Stay Matte, and just brushed that over my face using a No.7 Powder brush. After this, I just added a tiny bit of Benefit Erase Paste to any areas of my skin that needed a bit of extra coverage, such as under my eyes and on a few of my blemishes.

Contouring -  For bronzer, I used Hoola by Benefit. I applied this using the lil brush that comes in the box, as I find this is the most effective to get a defined contour. 'Peachykeen' by MAC was then applied to the apples of my cheeks with my Real Techniques Blush Brush - I had to be very gentle as this blusher can get very dark very quickly. To finish off my skin, I used a tiny bit of my MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle and applied it with a Real Techniques Contour Brush. I also added a tiny bit of highlighter underneath my brow bone too.

Eyeshadow -  I used my all time favourite, 'Virgin' by Urban Decay as my base. Then, I gently applied a tiny bit of 'All That Glitters' by MAC on the crease, making sure it was fully blended. On the outer part of my crease, I applied 'Dark Horse' by Urban Decay, once again making sure it was fully blended, leaving no harsh lines. I also applied a tiny bit of 'Hustle' by Urban Decay to my outer corners just to make it a tiny bit darker, however this is barely noticeable.

Eyeliner -  For my eyeliner, I used the Bobbi Brown Pro Longwear Gel Eyeliner and applied this with my MAC 210 brush. I blended this out using 'Creep' by Urban Decay, which I also took along my bottom lash line to give a smokier effect.

Fake Eyelashes -  For fake lashes, I used a natural pair by Studio. They were actually really easy to apply, I was really impressed! After application, I applied a tiny bit of 'They're Real' by Benefit to give them an extra boost.

I hope you enjoyed this little look/tutorial type post! I'd love to do more of these in the future! Let me know what you thought in the comments :)

My MAC Quad - Browns & Neutrals ♡

Top - l-r All That Glitters & Woodwinked
Bottom - l-r Mythology & Jest

l-r Mythology, Jest, All That Glitters, Woodwinked

All That Glitters -  I've wanted this shadow for so long, it's one of the first MAC products I ever really wanted. It's great to use as a base because it's quite simple yet it adds a tiny bit of colour and shimmer.

Woodwinked -  This is probably one of the most well known MAC shades, and I haven't been disappointed by it. I find that it is really nice to have in the crease, especially when it's fully blended as it can create a really nice subtle brown smoky eye.

Mythology -  As soon as I saw this in the MAC shop I knew I had to get it. It's so shimmery and pretty, it looks lovely as part of a brown smoky eye. It's a bit more loud and 'out there' than the other shades, but I think it's my favourite eyeshadow that I have ever owned. Ever.

Jest -  When I bought this, I actually wanted a shade called Gleam but it was out of stock. I then decided to pick a dupe and spotted Jest. I absolutely love wearing this as a base on my lids as it is so shimmery and simple. It reminds me a bit of Virgin by Urban Decay, which is also one of my favourite base shades.

What are your favourite MAC shadows? Let me know in the comments!

Soap & Glory - 'The Yule Monty' ♡

'The Yule Monty' is a collection of some of Soap & Glory's best known and best loved products. When I saw this go on sale for just £27 I could not resist buying one for myself. (I may have bought another one afterwards too, oops).  It's such a huge saving, as the set was previously on sale for £60!

The set comes in this lovely patterned bag by designer Jonathan Saunders. I'm definitely going to keep some products in this, it's too pretty not to!

The set consists of nine different full sized products:

Butter Yourself Moisture Lotion - I'm really excited to try this product as I have heard so much about it. Plus, I'm hoping it can save my skin from the wintery conditions.
Sugar Crush Body Wash - This smells so amazing, the mix of refreshing lime with sweet sugar is absolutely divine.
The Scrub Of Your Life Body Buffer - I have never tried a body buffer before, so I'm excited to see how this product fairs with my skin.

Peaches and Clean Deep Purifying Cleanser - I haven't really tried many creamy cleansers before, so I'm really looking forward to trying this one!
Heel Genius Foot Cream - I'm so interested and excited to try this product, as I haven't tried much like it before!
Hand Food Hand Cream - I've been meaning to pick some of this up for such a long time, so I'm really glad I can finally try it out.

The Righteous Butter Body Butter - This is one of the most well known products in the selection and I can't believe I haven't tried it yet. I think that this will work really well alongside 'The Scrub of Your Life'

Sexy Mother Pucker XL in Pink Out Loud - After months and months of debating, I can finally give this lip plumper a try. The colour is so pretty and I'm looking forward to seeing if it works effectively as a plumper!
Thick & Fast Super Volume Mascara - I've not really heard a lot about this, but I haven't tried any of the Soap and Glory make up range so I'm happy to give it a go!

Overall, this set is ridiculously good value for money, the products featured in it are all incredible. This set has sold out online on the Boots websites, however I think some are still available in stores, so i'd highly recommend picking one up.

Have you tried any of these products before? Let me know in the comments!
